GENERAL INFORMATION

SIMI Swiss, SwissEdu™, and their academic partner institutions (hereinafter collectively referred to as “we”) have established a set of terms and policies applicable to learners, partners, and related parties in order to ensure transparency and to prevent any misunderstanding or misinterpretation, whether intentional or otherwise.

These terms and policies are made publicly available, with the official version issued in English, and are duly communicated to all relevant parties. They are implemented as part of our commitment to transparency and to the protection of the legal rights and legitimate interests of learners, our institution, partner institutions, and all associated stakeholders.

SwissEdu™ operates as an academic pathway initiative developed in collaboration with Swiss Information and Management Institute (SIMI Swiss) and its partner higher education institutions. SwissEdu™ is designed to provide learners with access to programmes developed within the SIMI Swiss academic framework, while the awarding of qualifications is carried out by partner universities in accordance with their own authority and regulations.

Swiss Information and Management Institute (SIMI Swiss) is an international higher education institute delivering undergraduate and postgraduate programmes under its independently developed academic system. SIMI Swiss is not a local public higher education institution and does not operate within a national public university system. Its academic framework is designed to support Swiss Private Degree programmes and academically aligned pathways delivered in cooperation with recognised international partner universities.

SwissEdu™ does not act as an awarding body and does not issue degrees. All qualifications referenced under SwissEdu™ programmes are awarded solely by partner institutions under their respective legal and academic authority.

With academic coordination and resources provided by Swiss Information and Management Institute (SIMI Swiss)—an international Swiss higher education institute operating under the SIMI Swiss Direct™ model—learners enrolled in SwissEdu™ programmes study within the SIMI Swiss academic framework. Academic delivery is coordinated directly by SIMI Swiss, without unauthorised partnerships, sublicensing, or third-party teaching providers.

This model ensures:

  • Access to programmes developed under the original SIMI Swiss academic framework
  • Academic oversight and quality assurance aligned with SIMI Swiss standards
  • No unauthorised teaching partnerships, authorisations, or intermediaries
  • Compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, avoiding risks associated with unlicensed or third-party training delivery
  • Protection of learners’ academic rights and legitimate interests

Local representatives or support entities associated with SwissEdu™ and SIMI Swiss act solely as academic support partners. Their role is limited to learner support and coordination. They do not deliver teaching, collect tuition fees, conduct assessments, or issue academic results or qualifications. All academic decisions, evaluations, and recognition of learning outcomes remain under the authority of SIMI Swiss and, where applicable, partner awarding institutions.

Individuals who meet the eligibility and entry requirements specified for each programme published under SwissEdu™ may apply for admission. SwissEdu™ is committed to equal opportunity and provides appropriate academic support to all qualified applicants, without discrimination on the grounds of race, religion, nationality, or region.

Applicants and learners enrolling in SwissEdu™ programmes are required to comply with all applicable regulations, policies, and guidelines as set out in the Student Handbook and all officially published information. All information provided for admission purposes must be accurate, complete, and truthful.

SwissEdu™ reserves the right to refuse admission, revoke learner status, and invalidate academic results in cases where an applicant or learner is found to have breached the principles of honesty, integrity, or compliance. In such circumstances, no compensation or refund shall be payable. Where fraudulent conduct is identified, the applicant or learner may be required to compensate for any losses or damages arising from such misconduct.

SwissEdu™ regularly reviews and updates information relating to its programmes, academic framework, and partner institutions in order to maintain transparency, accountability, and alignment with evolving market needs and applicable regulatory environments. All information published on the SwissEdu™ website, official publications, and media channels is accurate at the time of publication but may be subject to change without prior notice.

Programme objectives, curricula, and learning pathways may be revised during a learner’s period of enrolment. Any such revisions shall continue to align with the intended learning outcomes, academic standards, and assessment frameworks applicable to the relevant programmes and partner institutions. Where material changes occur, SwissEdu™ will make reasonable efforts to inform learners of updates to programmes, pathways, or delivery arrangements.

In circumstances arising from economic conditions, political developments, regulatory changes, or force majeure events, SwissEdu™ reserves the right to adjust programme delivery methods or academic arrangements as necessary. Where practicable, learners will be notified and consulted in relation to such adjustments in order to ensure continuity of study and appropriate academic planning.

Learning materials used within SwissEdu™ programmes may include third-party content that is purchased, licensed, or used under applicable copyright agreements, as well as materials developed by faculty and academic contributors within the SIMI Swiss academic framework. All materials are subject to academic review and approval. Due to differences in national, legal, or cultural contexts, certain content may not be fully applicable in all jurisdictions. SwissEdu™ may make reasonable academic adjustments where significant impact is identified. However, SwissEdu™, SIMI Swiss, and partner institutions shall not be held responsible for any consequences arising beyond the intended academic or classroom context.

All academic materials are provided for personal study and research purposes only. Learners and related parties are strictly prohibited from copying, reproducing, distributing, or sharing such materials in any form, whether for commercial or non-commercial use, without prior authorisation. Further details regarding copyright and intellectual property rights are set out in the section titled “Copyright.”

TERM & POLICIES

Credits represent the formal acknowledgement of the volume, level, and duration of study required to achieve defined learning outcomes within a programme.

Swiss Information and Management Institute (SIMI Swiss) applies the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) as its primary credit framework. Certain programmes delivered within the SIMI Swiss academic framework may also utilise the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) credit system, reflecting academic alignment through partnerships with the British education system.

The recognition of credits within SwissEdu™ programmes is an internal academic process conducted by the Academic Board of SIMI Swiss. Such recognition applies solely within the SIMI Swiss academic framework and its established partner arrangements. Neither SIMI Swiss nor SwissEdu™ can guarantee that credits awarded or recognised internally will be accepted or recognised by external universities, institutions, professional bodies, or other third parties not formally affiliated with SIMI Swiss.

Learners who intend to transfer credits to another educational institution or system are solely responsible for verifying credit recognition requirements with the receiving institution in advance. While SIMI Swiss and SwissEdu™ may provide reasonable academic information or documentation upon request, they do not intervene in, influence, or control the admission or credit recognition decisions of external institutions.

Accordingly, no guarantee of credit transfer or recognition by third parties is given, and learners are advised to make informed decisions based on the policies of the intended receiving institution.

Upon successful completion of all required coursework and the fulfilment of applicable academic, disciplinary, and study obligations, learners’ academic achievements will be formally recognised within the SIMI Swiss academic framework. Where applicable, qualifications are awarded by partner institutions under their own legal and academic authority, in accordance with the relevant qualification frameworks applied by those institutions, including the UK Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

For collaborative or partnership-based programmes, learners may be eligible to receive additional qualifications, awards, or certificates issued by partner institutions, subject to the specific terms, conditions, and scope of each academic partnership agreement.

Learners acknowledge that the recognition, acceptance, or use of learning outcomes and qualifications varies by country, institution, profession, and jurisdiction. In line with international practice, the recognition of any qualification is determined solely by the receiving university, employer, professional body, licensing authority, or competent governmental authority within the relevant country or territory.

SwissEdu™, Swiss Information and Management Institute (SIMI Swiss), and their partner institutions strongly advise learners to conduct independent and thorough research regarding the recognition and acceptance of qualifications for their intended academic, professional, immigration, or regulatory purposes prior to enrolment.

As publicly stated, SwissEdu™, SIMI Swiss, partner institutions, affiliated universities, and academic collaborators do not guarantee, assure, facilitate, or provide support for the recognition or acceptance of qualifications by third parties after graduation, as such matters fall entirely outside their authority and decision-making scope.

This limitation of liability applies before, during, and after enrolment and graduation, and is expressly acknowledged and accepted by learners upon participation in SwissEdu™ programmes.

SwissEdu™ is committed to protecting personal data by adhering to applicable data protection laws and regulations, implementing appropriate technical and organisational security measures, and complying with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

SwissEdu™ and Swiss Information and Management Institute (SIMI Swiss) collect and process personal data solely for purposes that are necessary for programme delivery, academic administration, learner support, quality assurance, and continuous improvement. No personal data beyond these purposes is collected. Disclosure of personal data to third parties shall occur only where required by law or pursuant to lawful orders or requests from competent authorities.

In the event of a personal data breach arising from unauthorised access or security incidents, reasonable steps will be taken to cooperate with relevant authorities and affected stakeholders in accordance with applicable legal requirements. To the fullest extent permitted by law, SwissEdu™ and SIMI Swiss disclaim liability for data security breaches resulting from circumstances beyond their reasonable control, including but not limited to external cyberattacks or force majeure events.

SwissEdu™ respects the intellectual property rights of content providers, instructors, learners, partner institutions, and all other third parties. SwissEdu™ equally requires all learners, partners, and users of its academic systems to observe and uphold these intellectual property rights at all times.

By enrolling in or engaging with SwissEdu™ programmes, learners and related parties agree to comply with all applicable copyright regulations, policies, and guidelines, whether expressly stated or implied, in accordance with international copyright conventions and standards.

All materials published or made available by SwissEdu™, Swiss Information and Management Institute (SIMI Swiss), and their partner institutions—including but not limited to learning materials, academic documents, administrative forms, records, minutes, digital content, and any other materials released internally or externally, whether formally or informally—are protected by copyright and constitute the intellectual property of the relevant institution or rights holder.

Learners, partners, and related parties may use such materials solely for personal study and academic research purposes. Any copying, reproduction, distribution, sharing, modification, or reuse of materials for purposes beyond personal learning and research—whether for commercial or non-commercial use—without prior authorisation constitutes a copyright infringement.

Copyright infringement is regarded as a serious breach of academic and institutional regulations. SwissEdu™ and SIMI Swiss reserve the right to take appropriate disciplinary action, which may include refusal or termination of enrolment, invalidation of academic results, revocation of qualifications where applicable, and deactivation of access to academic systems. These measures may be applied during or after the completion of a programme, where permitted by law.

Where a copyright violation results in actual, potential, or consequential damage, SwissEdu™ and SIMI Swiss fully support lawful investigation and enforcement processes. However, to the fullest extent permitted by law, they disclaim any material, financial, or legal liability for infringements arising from actions beyond their reasonable control or authority.

As an international higher education pathway serving learners from multiple countries and jurisdictions, SwissEdu™ places the protection of the reputation and legitimate interests of its learners, partner institutions, and associated stakeholders as a fundamental priority. Transparency of information, the prevention of false or misleading communications, and compliance with fair competition principles are mandatory and are implemented in accordance with applicable EU laws, national regulations, and relevant international conventions.

SwissEdu™ works in coordination with Swiss Information and Management Institute (SIMI Swiss), partner institutions, affiliated universities, and, where appropriate, relevant authorities and diplomatic or consular channels in partner countries to safeguard the lawful rights and interests of learners, institutional entities, and academic partners.

Where issues arise involving media publications, announcements, press releases, or other forms of communication that contain false, misleading, or damaging information affecting SwissEdu™, SIMI Swiss, partner institutions, or learners, SwissEdu™, in coordination with its academic and institutional partners, may initiate remedial and protective measures. Such measures are applied in accordance with applicable laws and are limited to jurisdictions where SwissEdu™ operates or admits learners. The procedures outlined below are indicative and do not represent an exhaustive account of all available legal or administrative remedies.

1. Faulty and false communication behaviours

Faulty or false communication behaviours include, but are not limited to, the following acts:

  • Disseminating misleading, inaccurate, or false information in any form concerning:

    • the legal status or legitimacy of SwissEdu™, SIMI Swiss, or partner institutions;

    • academic accreditation, recognition, or partnership arrangements;

    • the lawful right of individuals to participate in education, regardless of age, gender, socio-economic background, or geographic location;

    • information, images, documents, or materials belonging to SwissEdu™, SIMI Swiss, or partner institutions;

  • Engaging in communications that intentionally or unintentionally create misunderstanding, partial truth, misrepresentation of facts, or constitute acts of unfair competition;

  • Publishing or distributing content that contradicts, distorts, or violates official statements, public disclaimers, or formal communications issued by SwissEdu™, SIMI Swiss, or partner institutions;

  • Any other actions that may reasonably be expected to harm the reputation, integrity, or legitimate interests of learners, institutions, or partners.

2. False communication management procedures

Where faulty or false communication is identified, SwissEdu™ may establish an internal Investigation and Resolution Committee to manage the matter. This committee is responsible for evidence collection, internal assessment, and coordination with relevant stakeholders. The process generally follows a structured three-stage approach:

Step 1 – Notification

Relevant parties are formally notified of the identified issue. Where appropriate and permitted by law, notifications may also be communicated to relevant institutional partners or competent authorities in the jurisdiction(s) concerned.

Step 2 – Request for rectification

An official request is issued to the relevant party, requiring rectification of the matter and, where applicable, submission of:

  • a description of the violation;

  • supporting evidence;

  • an assessment of actual or potential impact;

  • references to the applicable laws, regulations, or international conventions allegedly breached.

Step 3 – Monitoring and enforcement

Where rectification is incomplete or unsatisfactory, SwissEdu™ reserves the right to monitor the matter further and to pursue additional remedial, administrative, or legal measures in accordance with applicable laws, contractual arrangements, and institutional policies.

Limitation of scope

The measures described above are implemented solely for the purpose of protecting legitimate interests and ensuring compliance with applicable legal frameworks. SwissEdu™ does not assume jurisdictional authority beyond its lawful scope and acts only within the limits permitted by applicable laws and institutional agreements.

We hereby reserve the unilateral right to amend these terms at any time, with such amendments taking immediate effect.

Terms already agreed with related parties will remain in force. However, if any signed agreements are amended, the revised terms will only take effect if they are more favourable to us than the existing agreement.

The new terms shall apply immediately to all newly concluded agreements.

In order to ensure transparency and to clarify rights, responsibilities, and matters involving third parties over which we have no authority, control, or commitment, SwissEdu™ hereby issues the following liability disclaimer:

  1. No guarantee of completion or graduation
    Enrolment in a programme does not constitute a guarantee of course completion, graduation, or the awarding of any qualification. Qualifications are awarded solely by partner institutions (or, where applicable, SIMI Swiss) only after learners have fully satisfied all academic, financial, disciplinary, and institutional requirements.

  2. Right to refuse enrolment or withdraw status
    In cases of breach of regulations, failure to meet academic or financial obligations, unauthorised absence, voluntary withdrawal, or other violations of institutional policies, we reserve the right to refuse admission, withdraw academic or administrative support, revoke learner status, and deny any refund of tuition fees or related costs.

  3. No guarantee of qualification recognition
    We do not guarantee that any qualification will be accepted, recognised, accredited, or deemed equivalent by any third party, including governmental authorities, professional bodies, employers, or other institutions. Recognition decisions are made exclusively by the receiving authority and are subject to the laws, regulations, and policies of each country or organisation. Applicants are strongly advised to verify recognition requirements independently prior to enrolment.

  4. No commitment regarding equivalency or recognition processes
    Although international or regional agreements on qualification recognition may exist, each country, institution, or organisation retains sole discretion to recognise or reject foreign qualifications. Accordingly, we make no guarantees, commitments, or assurances regarding the recognition, equivalency, or validation of degrees, diplomas, certificates, or transcripts issued by partner institutions or SIMI Swiss. We do not provide or guarantee support for equivalency or recognition procedures where such processes are required.

  5. No guarantee of career or professional outcomes
    We do not guarantee that completion of a programme will result in salary increases, promotions, career advancement, employment opportunities, immigration status, work permits, teaching licences, professional certification, or overseas employment in Switzerland, Europe, or any other jurisdiction.

  6. Force majeure
    In the event of force majeure, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, institutional restructuring or dissolution, changes in government policies, or the absence of mutual recognition between organisations—circumstances beyond our reasonable control—we will make reasonable efforts to assist learners and mitigate disruption. Such assistance may include identifying alternative or equivalent academic pathways where feasible. However, we disclaim all liability for any direct or indirect loss, damage, or consequence arising from such force majeure events.

  7. Visa and immigration matters
    Where applicable, learners are solely responsible for their visa and immigration applications and the accuracy of all related information. We do not guarantee the approval or success rate of any student visa or immigration process.

  8. Financial aid and scholarships
    Financial aid, tuition support, or scholarship schemes (where applicable) are subject to availability and may be amended, suspended, or discontinued at any time without prior notice.
